Two days of collection and a great mobilization to meet the needs of the sick and injured who count on the generosity and altruism of the population. During these two days, 158 people showed up (94 having made an appointment and 64 coming spontaneously) to offer their blood, among them 21 new donors, including the secretary general of the prefecture, Bruno Berthet, which made it possible to collect 144 donations. 80 donations are needed every day for the Pyrénées-Orientales, almost half of which are intended for cancer patients. Plasma donation is also essential for manufacturing medicines to treat cancers, treat haemophilia, make anti-tetanus and anti-rabies serums, etc.
Bruno Berthet, secretary general of the prefecture, accompanied by Jean-Charles Moriconi, mayor, were keen to offer their support, but also their congratulations to blood donors, volunteers, and staff of the French Blood Establishment (EFS).
The partner mutual insurance company La Catalane was also present to run various games on knowledge about blood donation.
Congratulations to everyone: volunteers, EFS staff, town hall, etc. who contributed to the success of these two days of blood collection.
The next blood drives in Pollestres are planned Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 November.
