Pollen Information Western and Eastern Japan The best time to see cherry blossoms is when cypress pollen is at its peak. Take all possible precautions when viewing cherry blossoms.

Over the next week, it will be rainy in western Japan, and there are some places where the amount of pollen will be “low.” However, on sunny days when cherry blossom viewing is possible, a large amount of pollen is scattered. Please take precautions against pollen and enjoy the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
5th and 6th: Widely sunny and large amounts of scattering
It will rain today, the 3rd (Wednesday), so pollen scattering is likely to be suppressed from Kyushu to Kanto. The rain will stop in many places by the morning of tomorrow, the 4th (Thursday), and the amount of scattered pollen will increase after the rain.
From the 5th (Friday) to the 6th (Saturday), it was widely sunny and there was a large amount of scattered rain. Nagoya and Tokyo are ranked as “very common.” From Kyushu to Kanto, cherry blossoms are at their peak in many places, but this also coincides with the peak of cypress pollen scattering. Please take all possible precautions and enjoy cherry blossom viewing.
After the 7th (Sunday), it will rain mainly in western Japan, and there will be some places where it will be “less”. However, Sendai has been ranked as “very high” every day, so it looks like the difficult times will continue.
Full-scale pollen dispersal occurs in many places until mid-April
The peak period of cypress pollen scattering will be approximately one to two weeks. The amount of pollen scattered increases on sunny days and strong winds, so please take thorough measures against pollen. In Sendai, the amount of cypress pollen scattered is small, and no clear peak is expected to appear.
Full-fledged dispersal, in which pollen counts of 10 or more particles per square centimeter are observed, will not occur until early April in Kyushu, and by mid-April in many areas from Chugoku and Shikoku to Tohoku. Parts of the Tokai region are expected to last until late April. However, even after full-scale dispersal has ended, there will still be days when pollen will be slightly scattered in various places until around early May. If you are sensitive to pollen, please continue to take precautions.
