In the new poll by Maurice de Hond, Volt loses three seats, the lingering case surrounding Nilüfer Gündoğan does the party little good. Just before the municipal elections, this could cost the party many local seats. Volt currently sits on seven virtual seats.
Maurice de Hond’s poll has remained fairly stable this week, except at Volt. Due to the commotion surrounding Gündoğan, the party immediately loses almost a third of its seats. From ten virtual seats to seven, one month before the municipal elections. D66 and the VVD profit from this trouble, both parties are rising in the poll.
In some large municipalities, Volt was seen as the major challenger to D66, among others. But the lingering case surrounding Gündoğan damages the party directly. If the issue is not quickly calmed down, the party may well forget a resounding victory in some municipalities.
In an Amsterdam poll, the party was number three, but the affair that is now going on may cost this position.
