From Aldo Moro to Silvio Berlusconi and his spin doctor Luigi Crespi, from a new listening to people’s needs with the Honorable Paola De Micheli to a new dialogue between politics and young people, from Europe without borders to Eastern Europe told through the gaze of the great journalist Demetrio Volcic. These are the themes of the third edition of “Appointment with Politics, which unites”, organized by Leali delle Notizie. Three days, from March 15th to 17the six meetings in Sagrado, Fogliano Redipuglia and Ronchi dei Legionari to bring citizens closer to Italian politics, to some of its symbolic figures, to its history and evolution, but also to issues that concern our relationship with the European Union, given the next round of voting for the election of the new European Parliament from 6 to 9 June.
The exhibition will open on Friday 15 March at 6pm with the meeting «Young people and politics: evidence of dialogue». The appointment will be held in Sagrado in the Avv. Sergio Ferlan Multifunctional Hall, located in the back of the Town Hall in via Dante. We will reflect on the distancing of the political class from young people and on how the new generations can be encouraged to engage in politics, undertaking a career that is as demanding as it is fascinating. Anna Limpido, Equality Councilor of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and Enrico Papais, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Ronchi dei Legionari will speak on the topic with the moderation of Ivan Bianchi, journalist of The Gorizia area and editor of the magazine New Isontina Initiative. The evening will continue with a second appointment in Fogliano Redipuglia dedicated to the journalist Demetrius Volcic. The meeting will take place at 8.30 pm in the Municipal Library Hall in via Madonnina 4.
Taking inspiration from the posthumous book Straddling the wall. My days in Eastern Europe (Sellerio Editore Palermo, 2023), edited by Paolo Possamaiwriter and editorial director of the NEM Group, and by Livio Semoli?, member of the Interreg Italia Slovenia Monitoring Committee, we want to pay homage to a great professional. Volcic was a journalist of international standing thanks to his culture, but also thanks to his ability to go both beyond physical and mental walls and beyond prejudices. A humble and rigorous man, whose disenchanted gaze allowed us to read objectively what was happening behind the Iron Curtain, in the other half of Europe, when this was a world unknown to most. Guests of the meeting will therefore be Paolo Possamai and Livio Semoli?, who will dialogue with the cultural journalist Margherita Reguitti. Both events will be important training moments for information workers, as they will give the right to obtain training credits from the Journalists’ Association. It will be possible to register on the site www.formazionegiornalisti.it or on site.
It will then continue on Saturday 16 March with two other events, this time in Ronchi dei Legionari in the “Casa della Cultura” Municipal Auditorium in Piazzetta dell’Emigrante. The meeting will start at 6pm «Aldo Moro and politics, a destiny and a vocation», in collaboration with the Libertà Territorio Solidarietà ODV Association of Monfalcone. Here too we will start from a book: Aldo Moro. The politician, the professor, the legal philosopher (Ecra, 2022) in Leonardo Brancaccio, General Secretary of the School of Civil Economy and lecturer at the Sophia University Institute in Loppiano. An opportunity to reflect on a rich and complex character in Italian history of the 20th century who had a profound impact on the institutions, politics and culture of our country, whose gaze was always open towards the world and Europe, as well as a convinced supporter of the need for European solidarity. Leonardo Brancaccio will talk with Timothy Drawsdirector of The Gorizia area. This event will also be a training moment for information workers, as it will give the right to obtain training credits from the Journalists’ Association. At 8.30pm it will be the turn of «A Europe without borders?» in which the history of the Schengen Treaty will be retraced, when in 1985 France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands (Italy joined in 1990) signed the international agreement which provided for free movement between the signatory countries, without any more controls at the borders and in which no one could have imagined that one day those borders would be resurrected, that walls would even be built even where they had never existed, that a pandemic or the migration of peoples would make us take a step back. We will ask ourselves whether Europe’s open borders will remain as such or whether we are taking a step backwards, with the intervention of the speakers Jessica Acquavitavice-president of the Istria Region, Bestselling GaiserPresident of the Slovenian pan-European movement and member of the scientific committee of Limese Paolo Polli, president of the Apertamente cultural association of Monfalcone. He will moderate the meeting Stefano Lusajournalist.
The appointments with politics will close on Sunday 17 March, again in the Ronchi dei Legionari Auditorium. The last day will open at 4.30pm with «People first: overturning top-down to take concrete action». The guest of the meeting will be the Hon Paola De Micheli, member of the Chamber of Deputies in the Democratic Party group and Vice President of the Productive Activities Commission of the Chamber and author of the volume Concretely. People first (Rubbettino, 2022). Taking inspiration from the contents of his book we will talk about how to establish a dialogue between politics and citizens starting from careful listening to needs and greater involvement of people in public life. The journalist and teacher will moderate the meeting Alessandra Guerra. The day will end at 7pm with the presentation of the book Lo spin doctor. Memoirs of my seven lives, plus one (Solferino, 2024) by Luigi Crespi who will dialogue with Elisabetta Pozzetto, journalist and Executive PhD at the University of Trieste. The author is a communications consultant in the corporate and political fields and has worked for large Italian companies, entrepreneurs, artists and political leaders, including Silvio Berlusconi. The event “Appointment with politics, which unites” is organized by Leali delle Notizie, with the support and collaboration of the municipalities of Ronchi dei Legionari, Fogliano Redipuglia and Sagrado.
