Politics – Municipal Council of Rudersdorf: Lucia Salber resigns from the SPÖ

The former deputy mayor of Rudersdorf and former National Council candidate is no longer in the SPÖ and has also resigned her role as chairwoman of the pensioners’ association in the district.

According to BVZ information, differences about the vaccination requirement and the corona measures were one reason, which Vice Mayor David Venus confirms: “She did not agree with the line that the SPÖ took on the vaccination requirement and the measures.”

The mood between the deputy mayor and Salber is still friendly and collegial: “But we are still on good terms and have more or less the same goals.” According to Venus, there should be “no bad blood” and he accepts the decision.

Further municipal board and in the municipal council

Salber is still active as a community board member and the local party has no reason to vote her out. “We have no intention of doing that at the moment. I’m not a fan of just ‘knocking people out,'” Venus said. “We are still in constant exchange and have many discussions on various topics,” says Venus.

In the municipal council, Salber would now be represented as a non-partisan until she voluntarily resigns herself. Incidentally, participation in municipal council meetings for active municipal councilors is possible completely free of vaccination status.

Lucia Salber herself on the cause: “I had long disagreed with the attitude, especially that of the federal party. I would have resigned from office after this election period anyway. In any case, I will continue to support Vice Mayor David Venus,” explains the municipal councillor.

Everyone can also get vaccinated as they wish, but I simply have something against compulsory vaccination. I was and am not an anti-vaccine person.”
