The former Minister of Health Victor Zamora opens new functions in the Executive. This afternoon he confirmed in RPP that he will become a consultant to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
Zamora said that at the request of President Martín Vizcarra and Premier Walter Martos, it will be part of the government’s strategy to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The president and the prime minister have asked me to continue supporting the fight against the epidemic. The work would be directly with the premier to strengthen relations with the regions, with other actors of civil society and other international actors because I have been an official of the World Health Organization ”. the former minister told RPP.

The brand new consultant took over as Minister of Health on March 20. He left office on July 15 and was replaced by Pilar Mazzetti.
During the Zamora administration, the numbers of people infected and those killed by coronavirus that were published did not correspond to what was really happening in the regions. It is only with the arrival of Mazzetti, that these numbers have been sincere.
Zamora denied having altered the figures regarding the number of deaths and that this was the reason for his departure from the cabinet. “It is definitely not the reason for my departure from the cabinet, the departure corresponds to an almost complete renovation of the cabinet (…) That refreshes the executive capacity of the government,” he said after leaving office.
