The lawyer Liliana Humala, cousin of former president Ollanta Humala, filed a criminal complaint with the Attorney General’s Office against President Martín Vizcarra for the alleged crime of genocide due to the more than 26,000 people who died as a result of the new coronavirus (COVID-19).
The document indicates the modality of “Serious injury to the physical or mental integrity of members of vulnerable groups” and the submission of social groups “to conditions of existence that have led to their physical destruction”.
Liliana Humala indicates that “the government of Martin Vizcarra He did not foresee that an extraordinary crisis could occur, more serious than the one that had already been occurring with health, not only a pandemic but any health eventuality and that led to the first patients who had to be treated there for COVID-19 suffered the serious infection”.
For that reason, he asks the National Prosecutor, Zoraida Ávalos, to process the complaint and reserves the right to expand it “against those who are responsible”.
Liliana Humala was a lawyer for her also cousin, Antauro Humala, who is currently facing a 19-year prison sentence for his responsibility in the deaths committed during the “Andahuaylazo”.
Until last Thursday, August 20, the Ministry of Health has registered 27,034 deaths as a result of the COVID-19 since the first contagion was reported on March 6, 2020.
