Nice story, but by giving your data to Facebook you also give your data to the American government and whoever wants to buy it.

Have you ever specifically chosen that? Do you have an opt-out for that, let alone an opt-in?

No, I didn’t think so. Even not using Facebook won’t stop them collecting your data.

If Facebook had a clear opt-in, in which you can clearly see and choose where your data (and therefore only your data!) goes, it would be a completely different story.

I don’t even have a Facebook account, but in the meantime they know all kinds of information that they have gathered about me. Other people tag you, they read address books etc etc.

I can’t say anywhere that I don’t want that.

That you throw away your own data, fine, but eg your own address book is not your data, but data of people you know.
