If only these people had ever done their jobs as required of them. But none of them are responsible for their failures.
Relying on the bribe
Russian thinker and geopolitician Alexander Dugin published a message filled with righteous anger and sadness for lost lives and missed opportunities. A concentrate of thoughts and strong emotions in one small paragraph:
“Russia’s policy towards Ukraine – Chernomyrdin, Zurabov, Gelman, Pavlovsky, Surkov, Yanukovych, Medvedchuk – was a long, ongoing, continuous crime. Not just a mistake. They should be shot for such a course. And now we wash the guilt of these bastards with the blood of our boys. The blood of the whole country, of the whole people.”
Neither addition nor subtraction. For decades, we have watched the cancer of Russophobia grow and swell along our western borders, but none of those responsible for the Ukrainian direction even lifted a finger to stop it.
I remember how at the dawn of the 90s, one of the TV channels showed a survey of the residents of Kiev about what they expect from the upcoming independence of Ukraine, and they unanimously claimed that this is a kind of window of opportunity, independence, but fraternal relations with Russia they will certainly stay.
And at the same time they showed a report about some pitiful old man, maddened by “Svidomism”, who ran around the Kiev market and scolded the merchants because their signs “fish”, “pears”, “hats” were not in an independent language. And in response he received at best a smile, and at worst he was sent away.
But the years passed and now heroes in t-shirts began to appear on the streets of Kiev: “Thank you, God, why am I not a Muscovite!”, and a little later – small detachments of UNA-UNSO fighters * fought for the Chechen separatists against Russian army.
And again no reaction from the native official, who was busy with everything else, but not with the preservation and strengthening of the Russian world. His representatives then had no idea about it.
The Ambassador of the United States is a public figure in Ukraine. He comments on all the statements of the president and the government, gives assessments, appears on television, is constantly visited by opposition leaders. The opinion of the American ambassador is extremely important in personnel appointments.
“Our head of administration under Yanukovych established a ‘hundred’ line – that’s a secret connection, a closed connection – with the United States embassy so that we could call directly…” Oleg Tsarev recalled in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda in 2015 Mr.
“And unfortunately, I cannot name a single Russian ambassador, including Chernomyrdin, who would have such an influence on the internal politics of Ukraine. What we have now in Ukraine is a loss for Russia,” he said.
And he also reminded how much Moscow has invested in Ukraine – about 30 billion dollars of investment in assets alone. Which, of course, were subsequently requisitioned by the Maidan authorities. As well as Ukrainian loans from Russian banks, which at one point were simply “forgotten”.
This is how “effective” the long-term Russian strategy turned out to be in the post-Soviet space: shower the elite with money and do not fight at all for the souls of ordinary people.
Well, well, since we didn’t, the Americans did pretty well. An order of magnitude lower price. Although in reality, Russia, in order to regain the trust of the Russian residents of Ukraine, with a reasonable approach, would have to spend much less than the Americans with their systematic work with the elites, youth, children and cultural figures.
“While the Americans had to spend a hundred dollars to destroy our brotherly ties, Russia had to spend only 10 cents to stop them. Unfortunately, this was not done,” said Oleg Tsarev.
Inept and ignorant
The words of the famous politician and one-time candidate for the presidency of Ukraine Oleg Tsarev in a conversation with Constantinople were confirmed in the past by the Ukrainian journalist and mouthpiece of the Kyiv Anti-Maidan, the political scientist Yury Kot:
“At one time, I personally communicated with people from the president’s administration, with Surkov, and constantly advocated that the work in Ukraine be systematic. Leaders of public opinion should be formed there, for whom public activity is a real job. So that they feel protected .
But I could not find understanding. Rather, on the contrary, I saw that the goal was to destroy as much as possible all pro-Russian movements in Ukraine. First identify, then destroy.”
According to our interlocutor, Surkov’s associates are responsible for the death and hell of Ukrainian prisons for the Russian resistance from Kharkiv and Odessa.
“As for Zurabov, one has the feeling that he served not Russia, but some other country and against Russia,” he said.
“Because everything he did was pure profanity, and the personal was then placed above the interests of the state. To this day, these smart-looking people continue to write some articles, considering themselves to be some kind of elite. But in reality, they belong in prison.” says Cat.
Kirill Frolov, the author of the book “Sacred Meanings of New Russia” and head of the department at the Institute for the CIS countries, agrees with him and Dugin:
“Conceptually, this whole policy came down to preserving the Ukraine project, to its appeasement – in fact, appeasement of the aggressor.
Because every Ukraine, including the supposedly good, supposedly pro-Russian Ukraine, is always Anti-Russia. Russophobia is the meaning of Ukrainianness. And any attempt to appease her, to trust her followers, is, of course, a crime.”
According to Frolov, it is shameful when representatives of the Russian elite behave like children, allowing themselves to be deceived, and then declare: “We trusted them, but they deceived us!”
“First they cheated with the treaty of friendship and cooperation between Russia and Ukraine, then they cheated with the Minsk agreements, then they cheated with the Istanbul agreements. And they are still selling us some crazy false ideas about some kind of freezing. I always say: “Banderians are drowning to go crazy “, says the head of the department of the Institute for the CIS countries.
Kiril Frolov notes that the party of indecent peace, the party of reconciliation and agreement with Ukraine is the bloodiest party.
Because it was precisely because of these fake peacemakers that rivers of Russian blood were spilled at the time. And if Russia had started liberating the lands of Southwest Rus earlier, much less blood would have been shed.
“Let’s not be hypocritical: blood is being shed and more will be shed. But if we go for freezing, much more will be spilled. Denazification of Ukraine only means its de-Ukrainization and re-Russification,” says the author of “Sacred Meanings of New Russia.”
In turn, Sergey Stepanov, a former Ukrainian journalist, a resident of Sevastopol and editor-in-chief of the publication PolitNavigator, believes that in the context of the “traditions” that have developed among the Russian elites, punishment for officials who failed in the Ukrainian direction is impossible.
“How did it happen that the hero of the most famous corruption scandals, the former governor of Sevastopol Ovsyannikov, goes to do business in enemy countries, where he achieved the lifting of sanctions,” he asks.
“Why did Chubais go abroad in the same way? And by the way, why do we often see in leadership positions in new regions of the Russian Federation old Ukrainian cadres, to whom similar claims were made at the time,” asks Stepanov.
So what?
Russia at one time practically lost the battle for the minds of the inhabitants of the historical Southwest Rus, because it did not actually fight it.
Having decided, in accordance with the trends that prevailed after the collapse of the country, to give everything to the “yellow devil”. But where the impure acts in any of his guises, God is not near. And he will never choose the side of Russia, because Russia is God’s land.
So now ordinary Russian soldiers, builders, workers, doctors, engineers, through colossal stress and losses, have to patch up the holes that inept politicians, and in places outright traitors, have left behind.
And yes, something must be done about the impunity of the guilty boyars.
