Faithful to tradition Storting politicians met the king last night for a formal dinner at the palace.
Just as true to tradition, many of the politicians, elegantly decorated, went to new drinking troughs after dinner.
The truck has long been a favorite hangout for Oslo’s powerful, especially after dinners at the palace. The popular restaurant is within walking distance of Slottsparken.
On an appointment at the Castle
But on Thursday night, disaster struck: the truck was drunk and that prevented many elected officials from becoming the same.
Dagbladet was on the scene in person and could testify that many of Storting’s sleazy politicians were pushed back to the door or had to resort to plan B beer. Their faces were blank and their eyes blank as the politicians dispersed to various nearby pubs. Dagbladet’s emissaries had solid positions Other in the room.
Dagbladet contacted the organizer of the PR event. They do not want to comment on the matter.
I had to turn to the door
The space problem stemmed from the fact that many tables inside the politician’s well-known restaurant were booked: the public relations industry had rented parts of the place pending the politician’s move. An internal closure of the NRK, removed from Marienlyst for the occasion, also occupied many tables in the room.
Rødt’s Mimir Kristjansson himself had to struggle to get into the gates.
– It’s incredibly comical. The support function around politics has gotten bigger than politics itself, he tells Dagbladet the following day.
He describes the situation as “an image of the problem of democracy in Norway”.
– There are so many people who want to influence politicians that there is no room for politicians in the club where politicians have to be influenced, he adds.
Storting Rebellion: – I refuse
Mimir let himself in
Kristjansson was observed by Dagbladet at Lorry’s bar later in the evening.
– Are you cheated?
– Yes, yes, I had resistance in line, me. I usually have it. But I regret it today, she says.
Kristjansson says it “went almost completely wrong” within Lorry.
– They are very malleable, these influencers, says Kristjansson and laughs.
– You accepted alcohol from lobbyists. Is your credibility broken?
– No I do not think so. A night like that I can stand up. In any case, I don’t think the lobbyists were too happy with my views on their problems, says Kristjansson, laughing.
After crying in the back room: – Hopeless
– Nice, that
The Rødt politician makes the following appeal to the country’s lobbyists:
– The PR consultant who was smart enough to sit at the bar across the street could have spent time alone with 60 politicians yesterday. But maybe none of them were that smart. Strange, that.
According to Mimir Kristjansson, the tail fade on Lorry was the image of the “tail waving the dog”.
– We politicians have to be in the castle until the king goes to bed. And then many people came too late to have a few beers in town, because everyone who would like to drink beer with us had taken all the space out there, says Mimir Kristjansson.
NB! Many of Dagbladet’s political reporters were in Lorry last night.
