Political prisoner Gholamhossein Kalbi’s health condition deteriorates

CSDHI – The health condition of Gholamhossein Kalbi, a political prisoner held in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, Iran, has deteriorated dramatically after several months of denial of necessary medical care by prison authorities. Gholamhossein Kalbi, who suffers from various health problems, including a hernia, high cholesterol, ear infections and severe dental infections, has not received adequate medical care, leading to a critical deterioration in his health.

Gholamhossein Kalbi reportedly lost his hearing due to an untreated ear infection and is currently suffering from a fungal infection in his foot, which has caused deep wounds and blackened his toes. Despite these serious health problems, prison authorities have only provided him with basic painkillers and have repeatedly refused to transfer him to a hospital for specialist treatment, on the orders of higher authorities.
