Various groups and organizations from the University of El Salvador (UES) raised their voices to denounce the process of political intervention that the institution faces, which violates academic autonomy and is aggravated by the financial state to which the university is currently subject. by the Government of Nayib Bukele.

“Our Alma Mater, since 2019, has been the victim of a campaign of discredit, budgetary strangulation, and persecution against its university community and in recent years, it has been threatened with an intervention against academic autonomy,” the organizations highlighted.

“Since that year, a campaign that defames the scientific academic work of the University began, a campaign that has continued throughout the Bukele government. Since 2019, budget strangulation began, making incomplete transfers of the budget approved by the Legislative Assembly,” they added.
