Political consultations were held between the MFAs of Azerbaijan and the Philippines for the first time.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov visited the Philippines, and for the first time political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.

Within the framework of his visit, on April 3, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov met with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs (Minister) of the Philippines Enrique Manalo. At the meeting, the current situation and development prospects of bilateral relations were discussed, and the importance of joint efforts to achieve practical results in this direction was emphasized.

For the first time, political consultations were held between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.

The political consultations were led by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, and the Philippines’ Deputy Foreign Minister Mrs. Tereza Lazaro.

During the consultations, the current state of bilateral relations, as well as issues of expanding mutual partnership in economic, tourism, energy, agriculture, culture and education fields were discussed.

During the consultations, E. Mammadov gave extensive information to the other party about the process of normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, as well as about the restoration and construction works carried out in the territories of Azerbaijan freed from occupation.

Also, views were exchanged on the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) of Azerbaijan within the framework of the chairmanship, discussions were held on the prospects of NAM-ASEAN, Economic Cooperation Organization-ASEAN cooperation and regional and international security issues of mutual interest within the framework of regional and international organizations.

At the end of the consultations, the signing ceremony of the first intergovernmental document “Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of culture between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Commission for Culture and Arts of the Republic of the Philippines” was held.

Also, during his visit to Manila, E. Mammadov gave an interview to “Manila Times” Information Agency. In the interview, he answered questions about the current state of bilateral relations between the two countries, the current future prospects for the further development and strengthening of these relations, as well as the process of normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, as well as detailed information about the restoration and construction works carried out in the territories of Azerbaijan freed from occupation.
