Chief of Police Central Jakarta Metro Kombes Komarudin said the police were currently investigating the death of the table tennis athlete David Jacobs.

Komarudin said that investigators from the Central Jakarta Metro Police are currently at the crime scene (TKP) where David was found.

“The team is still at the location. We are still investigating it,” Komarudin told reporters, Friday (28/4).

David was found lying on the side of the Gambir-Juanda railway line on Thursday (27/4) night. When found, David was in a state of unconsciousness.

He was later taken to hospital and pronounced dead in the early hours of Friday.

“That’s right. It was reported that he died at around 4 o’clock,” said Komarudin.

The news of David’s death has been confirmed by the Deputy Secretary General of NPC Indonesia, Rima Ferdianto.

David Jacobs is a table tennis athlete with a myriad of achievements. The Makassar-born athlete regularly wins medals in prestigious events.

David Jacobs’ last achievement was making it through to the semifinals of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics (2021). He brought home a bronze medal for Indonesia from this prestigious sporting event.
