The Madeleine McCann case has been making headlines for over a decade, with various twists and turns along the way. However, the latest development has come from an unexpected source: Chloe Ayling, a model who was once herself the victim of a high-profile kidnapping. Ayling has taken to Instagram to vent her frustration over people who claim to have information about Madeleine’s disappearance, only to turn out to be frauds. In the process, she has promised to release new information about the case herself. Will Ayling’s words lead to a breakthrough in the investigation, or is this just another false lead in a case that has seen so many of them before?
Julia Wendell, a Polish woman who previously claimed to be abducted and even suggested she might be Madeleine McCann, has hit back at her critics in a strongly-worded Instagram post. She had been advised by a self-proclaimed “Persian Medium”, Dr. Fia Johansson, but received clarification about her situation after a DNA test confirmed her ancestry as Polish, ruling her out as the missing Leicestershire toddler.
Wendell promised to reveal new secret details about the events of the past few weeks but also announced that it would be her last statement regarding the issue. In the post, she expressed her frustration at those who doubted her version of events and called out critics who disregarded reality in their own minds.
The Instagram account that Wendell previously operated under the name iammadeleinemccan was deactivated, and she created a new account called “Am I Julia Wendalt”. On this new account, she reiterated that she never said she was Madeleine but believed she could be.
Since returning to her home country, Wendell has claimed that Dr Johansson was “trying to scare” her and no longer believes that the medium ever wanted to help her find her true identity. Wendell also claims that Dr Johansson has not sent her the full results of her DNA test. In response, Dr Johansson argued that Wendell was provided all the information about her DNA results to check.
Despite these recent developments, Dr Johansson expressed her well-wishes to Wendell in a statement and wished her a happy life.
Wendell’s case had garnered media attention as she launched a fundraiser after reportedly being coerced into a US trip. Wendell claimed that Dr Johansson had exaggerated the possibility of the trip’s danger and that she was left with no choice but to crowdfund in order to raise the necessary funds.
Despite the DNA test confirming Wendell’s ancestry as Polish and not McCann, the search for the missing toddler continues. Madeleine vanished from the family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007, and although numerous potential leads have been explored over the years, her whereabouts remain unknown.
Some experts believe that the resolution of the Wendell case brings some closure to McCann’s case as it removes a potential red herring. However, the search for McCann continues, and the public remains vigilant.
