Four players from Poland’s under-17 team were expelled from the team’s camp after sneaking out of the hotel and getting drunk in a bar in Bali, Indonesia, where the World Cup will begin next weekend. The federation has already announced that Oskar Tomczyk, Filip Rózga, Jan Labedzki and Filip Wolski will leave the training camp and return home.

The Polish press reveals that everything happened after a private dispute with the United States. Coach Marcin Wlodarski announced a ‘mandatory curfew’ after the game and everyone must have been sleeping, but a quick inspection by the staff later discovered that two rooms were empty.

The fugitives hadn’t gone far, as they were caught in a bar near the hotel. The coaches found them in front of glasses of high-alcohol drinks, already very drunk. Oskar Tomczyk actually suffered a fall, opened his eyebrows and was covered in blood…

The selector, who had previously shown that he had no complacency in cases of indiscipline involving alcohol, decided to repatriate the four players as quickly as possible. It is not yet known whether Wlodarski will call up other footballers to make up the team, which will debut at the World Cup on Saturday, against Japan.

The federation, however, issued a statement: “Due to unsportsmanlike conduct and violation of regulations, the technical team of the under-17 team decided to remove four players from the group”, it can be read.

Lech Poznan, which has two players, Tomczyk and Wolski, involved in the controversy, reacted vehemently: “At Lech Poznan there is absolutely no consent for unworthy behavior. These are not the values of our club. In our academy, which is considered exemplary in this part of Europe, we try not only to produce great players, who later make their debut in the Polish senior team, but also good people. Therefore, we strongly condemn the unsportsmanlike behavior that was committed by two of our footballers. We await their return them to Poland, but today we will announce the appropriate consequences of what happened.”
