Polish transport companies continue to block the border with Ukraine: supplies at risk, truckers in the freezing cold

A prolonged roadblock could become a major problem for Ukrainians. Since the Russian invasion, air supplies have become virtually impossible. It is also not possible to get emergency goods into the country via the Black Sea, which is under the control of the Russian Sea Fleet. The road network between Ukraine and the European Union is therefore the most important supply line for Ukrainians.

But primarily the Ukrainian drivers at the border are the victims. Deputy Ukrainian Minister of Economy Taras Kachka speaks about inhumane conditions. “There is snow, it is freezing on the roads and people are stuck without access to proper sanitary facilities,” Katsjka responded.

Two Ukrainian truckers have also died. It concerns two men aged 54 and 56. According to local authorities, both men died of natural causes, although investigations have been launched into both cases.
