Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes that Europe, from a strategic perspective, is a target of Russian aggression, so the continent as a whole must be stronger than the Russian Federation militarily in order to protect its own borders.
Source: Tusk at a press conference following a government meeting on Wednesday, January 3, reports “European truth” with reference to RAR
Details: The Polish prime minister announced that a Security Committee would be created under the government, which would deal with improving the security of Poland’s borders, “especially the airspace,” and “strengthening the eastern flank with the participation of our allies.”
“We have already prepared such an initiative with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radoslaw Sikorski, a call to take into account the needs of the European arms industry in order to support Ukraine as quickly as possible, not least because almost the entire Russian economy has already switched to a military weapons system and Europe remains far behind “, added Tusk.
The idea, he said, is to “mobilize using existing diplomatic means and persuasion to make the entire EU understand that without a radically increased effort in the arms sector we will be left far behind.”
“This will mean one thing: Europe will be vulnerable to direct Russian attack in the next few years. No one can doubt that, from a strategic perspective, Europe is the target of Russian aggression, and this will happen when Russia’s advantage in terms of military capabilities is clear.” – says the head of the Polish government.
Therefore, according to Tusk, “the absolute need of the moment in connection with the Ukrainian situation is that Europe as a whole must be stronger militarily than Russia, and this is the only way to protect European and Polish borders.”
Let us remind you that Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski called for a decisive response in response to the massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine on January 2 – strengthen anti-Russian sanctions and provide Kyiv with long-range missiles to destroy launch sites and command centers of the Russian Federation.
