On Tuesday, October 19, Polish President Andrzej Duda will begin a two-day visit to Lithuania. The visit will mark the 230th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Polish-Lithuanian Union or the Republic of the Both Nations on 3 May 1791. It will also address regional security challenges, including the migration crisis on the Lithuanian-Polish border with Belarus.
During the visit of the President of Poland, the first meeting of the Council of Presidents of Poland and Lithuania, established last year, will take place.
The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, and the President of Lithuania, Gitan Nauseda, will focus on regional security and defense issues, the promotion of transatlantic relations, the fight against irregular migration, and economic, educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Both Presidents are also expected to address the Lithuanian Seimas.
The constitution of the Polish-Lithuanian union adopted on May 3, 1791 was the first written constitution in Europe and the second written constitution in the world, reports the Lithuanian public media portal LRT.lt.
