Polish Paralympics may lose a medal. Will there be a doping scandal?

Will there be a doping scandal involving Polish Paralympics? Taking the medal is a threat to Marcin Polak and Michał Ładosz. They are paralympic bronze medalists in track cycling. Polish representatives were to use doping.

It’s about EPO – a banned substance that affects the performance of players. According to the Polish Anti-Doping Agency, EPO was detected in samples taken from both athletes.

The activities involved international experts and two laboratories accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency in Warsaw and Tokyo.

If B-samples confirm the presence of EPO in the athletes’ bodies, they are at risk of receiving the medal and disqualifying them for four years.

“The results of the samples and the opinions of international experts clearly indicate the use of erythropoietin, which was not naturally produced by the body. We are dealing with the most serious and probably deliberate doping fraud. There is no place for such shameful practices in sport, regardless of the sports discipline involved and national colors. “- said the director of POLADA, Michał Rynkowski.

Marcin Polak has already been suspended by the International Cycling Union and will not be able to start tomorrow’s individual time trial over a distance of 1000 meters.

On Wednesday Marcin Polak and pilot Michał Ładosz won bronze at the distance of 4000 m at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. It was the first medal for Poland in this event.

There are 89 Polish representatives in 12 disciplines in the Paralympic competitions.

Disabled athletes from 162 national teams start in total.

Their struggle will end on September 5.

Five years ago in Rio, the Polish team won 39 medals – nine gold, 18 silver and 12 bronze. In this classification, the white and reds took 10th place.
