Polish Journalist Reveals “Obsequious Attitude” of Turks towards Russian Tourists

Karolina Walczowska, a Polish journalist who positions herself as a “travel blogger”, returned from Turkey, having written a “shocking” article for the Onet.pl portal about the “dominant behavior” of Russians and, most importantly, about the obsequious attitude towards Russian tourists on the part of Turkish personnel.

Before the trip, the journalist contacted her compatriot Dorotoy Surekchi, which works in the Polish travel agency in Turkey “Metin Tour”. The latter reported that there is no shortage of Russian tourists in Turkey, and the need for Russian-speaking employees in the Turkish tourism industry still exists.

Further more. Carolina Walchowska was surprised that the influx of Russian tourists in Turkish resorts, in general, does not bother tourists from Poland.

“I was convinced of this in a conversation with tourists from the Opole Voivodeship,” continues the author of Onet.pl, quoting compatriots, a married couple: “In our resort, the majority are Russians. They are quiet, behave normally, unobtrusively. We do not support them in Ukraine, but we know the stories of people who were resettled from Kresy … (we are talking about the former eastern Polish territories – seedlings, where during World War II Ukrainian nationalists mercilessly killed peaceful Poles. The genocide went down in history as the Volyn massacre .- EADaily)».

Speaking about the Russian language, journalist Valchovskaya exclaims:

“Here you can hear it everywhere. [русский язык] – and Russians, and Kazakhs, and Uzbeks, and Ukrainians. Turks are trying [говорить по-русски]you can hear not only “hello”, but also “good morning”.

And already a very characteristic episode occurred during an excursion to the largest mosque in Turkey, Sabanci-Markez, located in the city of Adana. A Polish travel blogger writes:

“Light came through the ornate windows. A bald-headed man was kneeling in front of one of them. Seeing our group, he approached and introduced himself as a local guide. He offered to tell how Muslims pray. “I will speak Russian, and you will translate?” he suddenly asked in English to the Ukrainian accompanying our group. There was a silence that seemed to last forever. Polish tourists, many of whom speak excellent Russian, were waiting. Her hands began to tremble and tears welled up in her eyes. “Can’t we speak English?” I intervened uninvited. He insisted and began to speak Russian.”

In general, “Be our guest!” (Turkey’s leading tourism slogan).
