Polish farmers announced that on March 1 will block the Polish-Lithuanian border. The Budziska border crossing point will be blocked by tractors, it is reported wp.pl.

“There is a cheerful intention to block all traffic. We won’t miss anything,” wp.pl said Karolis Pieczyńskis, the organizer of the border blockade with Lithuania, who hopes that Lithuanian farmers will join the action.

Polish farmers justify their decision by the so-called “grain carousel” system, according to which Ukrainian grain enters the Lubelsk or Podkarpackie voivodships via Poland, and then travels to Lithuania.

Among other things, Polish farmers are threatening to block an important German border crossing. Farmers say they will block the main Warsaw-Berlin highway for a day starting Sunday.

Farmers said they were contributing to growing protests over European rules and cheaper imports. Polish farmers have already organized protests on the border with Ukraine, stopping the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. The demonstrations have soured Poland’s relations with its neighbor, although Warsaw’s support for Ukraine remains strong.
