This Saturday, December 11, Walkers from Côte-d’Or gathered in Dijon around François Patriat and Maria-Paz Fave Usach in particular. The objective of the campaign was “to defend the results of the President of the Republic and to listen to the French”.
Five years later, it is the anniversary of the “diagnosis of France”, a report of the “Great March” made in the fall of 2016 from questionnaires which had helped to launch the campaign of a candidate at the time. almost unknown: Emmanuel Macron.
Five years later, the time has come to take stock of the President of the Republic, so activists are working on the electronic tools provided by the Paris headquarters. It was the same in winter 2018 to prepare for the European elections.
Since the beginning of September, the party has encouraged activists from the various components of the majority “to roam the streets and markets of France to defend the record of the President of the Republic and listen to the French”. The weekend of December 11-12 is approached as the “culmination” of the mobilization around the slogan “5 years +”.
“We try to listen to our fellow citizens through a questionnaire”
A walker from the start, Maria-Paz Fave Usach has become the departmental referent of La République En Marche for the Côte-d’Or. Before making an appointment in downtown Dijon, this Saturday, December 11, 2021, she briefed the activists so that they download the application supposed to collect citizens’ responses.
About twenty walkers from different points of the Côte-d’Or are there this Saturday morning at Place du Bareuzai. If contacts have been maintained through local committees, they seem happy to meet face-to-face. Some people discover that wearing a protective mask is mandatory in downtown Dijon.
Among the elected officials present, are the parliamentarians LREM Fadila Khattabi, Didier Martin, Didier Paris and François Patriat as well as the deputy mayor of Dijon François Deseille (Modem).
“Faithful to our DNA, we continue with our questionnaires”, explains the departmental referent. “We try to listen to our fellow citizens through a ‘five years listening’ questionnaire in which we will ask what their impressions are, especially from the balance sheet. From that, we go back up automatically. “
“Today, Macron, it’s security, protection and the offensive”
Maria-Paz Fave Usach gives the final instructions to the dispersed troops. We surrounded François Patriat to listen to his comments on the latest campaign events: “Zemmour is Madame Pécresse’s objective ally; Zemmour takes votes from Marine Le Pen, which can qualify Valérie Pécresse ”.
“I, who am an unconditional Macronist, have two principles: the first is benevolence, the second is no doubt”, launches the senator. “Before, Macron, it was doubt and the unknown. Today, Macron is about security, protection and the offensive. We are not at all in the same process. People know Macron. Today it suffices to value the balance sheet. Those who doubt have no place with us. ”
«[Emmanuel Macron] speaks of Europe with a height of view, with a commitment, a knowledge of the file which are out of the ordinary ”, enthuses the Walker from the start. “To whom other than Emmanuel Macron can you entrust the keys to France today?” The right is Fillon’s retrograde program. There will be a big gap to be made between the center and the far right. Despite everything, there is a part of the right which is resuming hope today, which is what will ensure that there will be a more serious match but there is no doubt. The spirit of the Walkers today is proud of the record. ”
The announcement of Emmanuel Macron’s candidacy in question
“Voters pass by during this time,” pawns a Walker as the team poses for photographs. The blocks of leaflets are distributed and distribution begins at Place du Bareuzai and around Les Halles.
Overall, most campaign materials are taken willingly. Some people from Dijon who are used to hauling from the different formations automatically take the paper, others refuse on principle.
A lady gets annoyed by recognizing the portrait of Emmanuel Macron and, with an angry air, tears the leaflet into very small pieces while cursing at the Walkers: “that does not interest me absolutely!”
Other passers-by stop and exchange readily with the activists. Courtesy, sometimes tinged with annoyance, some ask when Emmanuel Macron will declare his candidacy for the next presidential election. “All the outgoing presidents have done that,” repeat the Walkers over and over again, referring to the sometimes last-minute statements made by his predecessors.
Delighted to distribute leaflets, the activists somewhat neglected to use the application to question citizens. Never mind, by debriefing the operation Maria-Paz Fave Usach urges them to sound out their entourage and to make a few phone calls to acquaintances to feed the algorithm in charge of identifying in particular the degree of knowledge of the five-year review.

Five years listening
The nine questions asked to the French by the activists via an application.
Emmanuel Macron has been president for 5 years. Do you have the impression that since 2017 France has rather advanced, or rather retreated?
What did you like the most about this five-year term?
What has disappointed or irritated you the most about this five-year term?
And in your territory (your municipality or your department), in particular, what has changed?
What should be in your eyes the priority of the next five-year term?
Imagine that you become President of the Republic tomorrow morning. What’s the most important step you take?
How, in a single word, would you qualify your feeling about the future?
What is your biggest worry, for your personal future or that of your children?
What is your greatest source of hope, for your personal future or that of your children?
