Policy – Mathias Reynard, should not woo the presidency of the PS

Between the Council of State of valais and the presidency of the PS, the heart of Mathias Reynard swung. The national advisor has now made his choice: he will be a candidate for the Council of State and decide not to run for the head of PS.

“My heart and my guts are here,” says Mathias Reynard in an interview published Monday in the “Nouvelliste“. And to add: “I want to give back to my township and its inhabitants what they have given me until now”. He clarifies that this is not the pressure of his party or of the population that has to decide, but the impression that it might be more useful to the township that the party switzerland.

“The sensitivity of the left, the plurality and the spirit of openness that exist in the Valais should be represented on the Board of State and I will be more useful to accomplish this task that of running the country as president of the PS”, details there. Mathias Reynard will attempt to save the seat socialist government of the valais has occupied since 2009 years by Esther Waeber-Kalbermatten. The elections to the Council of State are scheduled in march.

Election postponed to October

Mathias Reynard was announced in late January that he sought his the chairmanship of the PS to the sides of the national advisor Priska Seiler Graf. This duo had in front of him and another duo made up of national advisers Mattea Meyer and Cédric Wermuth, as well as the Bernese, Martin Schwab, 26 years old, an electro-installer unknown on the national stage.

The succession of Christian Levrat should have been resolved in April, but the coronavirus has forced the PS to postpone its congress to the 17 and 18 October. The candidates have suspended their campaign until the 10th of August.
