Two older women in Titisee-Neustadt and Sulzburg handed over five-digit amounts of money to strangers – the betrayed had been asked to do so by alleged police officers on the phone.
Again, the police warn of scammers. Current cause: On Thursday, unknown persons called an older woman in the Titisee-Neustadt area and pretended to be police officers. They explained that a family member was involved in a serious accident and urgently needed bail money. The elderly lady was questioned about her assets and asked to withdraw a five-digit sum from the bank and hand it over, which then happened. According to the police, an almost identical case happened on May 5 near Sulzburg. There, too, an elderly woman handed over a five-digit sum to an unknown person. According to the police, other such calls were reported in the Emmendingen area, although no money was handed over there.
