Police: – Very demanding search

On Sunday evening, a comprehensive rescue operation was launched after three people and a dog in Tokagjelet in Hardanger.

– It has been a very demanding search and very bad weather. There has been heavy rainfall, wind and fog, say the police, says task leader Atle Birkeland.

The demanding weather has also made it impossible to search by helicopter. Now the police hope that the weather will soon allow it.

The identity of the missing is known to the police.

– The relatives have been notified and they are taken care of here in Kvam municipality now in the first instance.

– Is there hope of finding them alive?

– As long as there is a rescue operation, there is hope.

Continues search

The police further state that they will continue to apply, and that the Civil Defense will also assist.

– It is a search while we are here that is going on. There are dogs and boats that we have out. We have a river rescue group with special expertise from the Red Cross, which is in the process of planning its work for the search in the river, says Birkeland.

The weather will also create some challenges throughout the day.

– Hope the light can help us, so that we can make the moves we want to do.

Went down the waterfall

The incident took place somewhere between 21 and 21.15, when a person was to transport a couple across the water in a boat. High water levels and strong currents caused the boat to be led down the river.

The boat has most likely gone down a waterfall, and an oar has been found below it.

It has been searched through the night, and NRK writes that no new discoveries have been made tonight.

The case is being updated!
