The current drone regulations are unusual. It is often claimed that there were no regulations for a drone pilot license, but that is incorrect. It used to be part of a flying model, and those rules were stricter than the current ones. With the right drone and an online course, you can now even fly in residential areas and over people. Just look at Funda: there are plenty of drone photos of houses. You can only see the pictures of the house for sale, but who knows what else is being filmed?

I’ve been flying racing drones in the poltergeist for years, even after the drone license became mandatory. The regulations have put a flight model under a lot of pressure. I wanted to build a flying wing to photograph Texel from the poltergeist, but I put that off because of the drone evidence.

The problem with today’s drones is that anyone can fly them, even inexperienced people. The current regulations are too strict to promote drone flying as a hobby, but at the same time they allow a lot when it comes to flying over people and buildings, and not this is effective against people who buy such a drone without knowing what the rules are.

I think it is important to use drones wisely, but of course the current regulations and controls need to be dealt with. Something better is needed.
