MIDDELBURG – The police had to use force last night to restore peace after a fight took place in the center of Middelburg.
Officers were sent to a catering business on the Vlasmarkt around 4:15 a.m. because a fight was allegedly taking place there. A staff member appeared to have been beaten at the scene. The entrance door also appeared to have been destroyed. It was restless outside on the street. “A bystander threatened, among other things, with a fork. The officers had to use force to restore public order,” the police said.
A 28-year-old man from Vlissingen was arrested on suspicion of vandalism. Police are also investigating the assault on the staff member. The police are still looking for witnesses for this. Any camera images are also very welcome, a police spokesperson said this morning.
