Police to Shutdown Illegal iPhones with IMEI Bulging: How to Check IMEI Location on iPhone

The police will shut down or shutdown around 191 thousand cell phones–the majority iPhone–which uses IMEI bulging. This is a police follow-up to the illegal IMEI mafia case which is said to have caused losses to the state of up to IDR 353 billion.

iPhone users will be affected by this decision, because in this case, at least 191,995 cellphones were registered illegally and 176,874 of them were iPhones.

iPhone users, of course, need to know whether the IMEI of the cellphone was registered illegally or not. Then, how to find out where the iPhone IMEI number is located?

Quoting pages Apple Support, users can find the IMEI number in several places, including Settings, on the physical device, in the Finder or iTunes, and on the original packaging. Here’s how to find out the location of the iPhone IMEI:

Via Settings

Go to Settings > General, then tap About Look up the serial number. You may need to scroll down to find IMEI. To paste this information into the registration form or Apple Support, touch and hold the number you want to copy.

Find the IMEI number before setting up the device

Turn on the device Press and hold the device’s power button until you see the Apple logo. Then, you will see a “Hello” message in different languages. Tap the Info button at the bottom right corner of the screen

Check on live device

You can also check the IME number on a live device that you own, such as on a SIM tray. Some iPhone models, the IMEI number can be seen in the SIM tray, namely:
