Freiburg-A5: Driver drives under the influence of drugs and with an unauthorized car on the A5

Freiburg (ots) –

Already last Thursday, April 21, 2022, the traffic police checked a car with a trailer and French number plate at around 2 p.m. on the A5 between the Freiburg-Nord and Freiburg-Mitte junctions. The 28-year-old driver, who has French citizenship, was found to be under the influence of drugs. An inspection of the car by TÜV Süd also revealed significant defects in the vehicle. The trailer was finally rated as roadworthy. The car train was then taken to a parking area until it was transported away. Further checks revealed that the car had not been registered for traffic for more than two years and that the French authorities had also banned the use of the trailer for more than a year. With a valid driver’s license, however, the BE driving license required for the vehicle combination had already expired more than five years ago. The car driver was taken to the office and asked for a security deposit of 500 euros. The number plates and the registration certificate of the car were taken into custody and sent to the Freiburg registration office. The man will now have to answer for a variety of crimes.
