NEW YORK – Authorities are on the trail of the man responsible for shooting a woman on Staten Island.

The incident was reported around 6:58 p.m. Monday when authorities responded to a 9-1-1 call about a shooting at 255 Park Hill Avenue in the Park Hill neighborhood.

Upon arriving at the scene, the report says, the uniformed officers found a woman inside the site with a gunshot wound to the head. The 53-year-old victim was transported to Staten Island University North Hospital, her condition unknown.

According to the investigation, a black Sedan vehicle was seen fleeing the scene. So far it is unknown if the woman was the target of the attack or an innocent victim.

This is a case under investigation.
