On Sunday, around 6 p.m., two young people were riding their mopeds on Austrasse near Neukirchen b. Hl. Blut. A 16-year-old, who was following his 15-year-old friend, drove off the road without anyone else involved and into a ditch. A road user came along and reported the accident. When the officers from the Furth im Wald police arrived at the scene, they found that the 16-year-old was significantly intoxicated.
They therefore initiated criminal proceedings for drunk driving. The 16-year-old was slightly injured and was treated as an outpatient in a hospital.

The officers also found that his 15-year-old friend, who also lives in the Cham district, was under the influence of alcohol. He had apparently drunk less, and his blood alcohol level was within the range of a traffic violation. He underwent a breathalyzer test that could be used in court.
Since there were indications that technical modifications had been made to the two mopeds in order to exceed the maximum permitted speed, both vehicles were confiscated. If the suspicion is confirmed, the two will probably also have to answer for driving without a license.
