Police stop cold case investigation of murder Manon Seijkens (8) | Inland

That is why the police decided to close the investigation, a spokesman for the police confirmed reports in the Eindhovens Dagblad on Saturday.

“We have checked all the tips, but they have yielded nothing,” said the spokesman. “Unfortunately! The case is now closed, unless new leads arise. ”

The girl disappeared on August 10, 1995 while playing outside, her body was not found until six months later. The remains were buried in dense bushes, not far from her home in Helmond.

Investigators previously called the location an unpleasant place, because of the dense vegetation, blackberry bushes and many gadflies and mosquitoes on hot days. At first, 'due to an unpleasant combination of circumstances', they did not look for that place.

Pumps

A pair of ladies’ pumps were also found near her body. Extra holes had been made in its strap to make the shoes smaller. Despite previous arrests of three suspects, the murder case has never been resolved. The police hoped to solve the murder after a quarter of a century. That has not yet been successful.

In early August, new information came out about a previously found black hair that, according to new DNA research, is believed to be from an East Asian person. For that reason, the Public Prosecution put a podcast online about the unsolved murder. The podcast has been clicked many thousands of times.

The hair found could belong to the perpetrator, the police said at the time. But also from someone close to the perpetrator, with whom the girl had contact shortly before her death. The hair did not belong to any of the previously arrested suspects.
