Police shot a man with a knife in Stavanger

The man in his 30s was taken to hospital with no life-threatening injuries, according to police.

This was reported by the Sør-West police district in a press release on Thursday evening.

They write that around 21:00 they received a report of a man who committed damage with a knife in a department store in Hillevåg in Stavanger.

– When the police arrived at the scene, a threatening situation arose. In connection with this threatening situation, shots were fired by the police which targeted the perpetrator of the threat. The perpetrator of the threats was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

They write that he is accused of threatening the police under section 155 of the Criminal Code.

– The Special Police Affairs Unit is regularly informed, and will investigate the matter. Police have no further information on the case tonight, the report said.

VG was in contact with both the on-call lawyer and the operations manager in the Sør-West police district on Thursday evening. They do not wish to comment on the matter beyond what is stated in the press release.
