NEW YORK — Authorities are investigating the incident in which a police officer shot a suspect Friday morning in Brooklyn, police sources told our sister network. NBC 4.
According to the report, the officers were in the area of Georgia Avenue y Liberty Avenuearound 11:50 a.m., monitoring the suspect, a 42-year-old man, who had an active I-Card for homicide.
An I-Card is an online document created by an NYPD detective that notifies patrol officers that a person is wanted.
At that point, the report says, the suspect tried to flee and officers took action to apprehend him. In the middle of the fight, one of the uniformed officers allegedly shot and hit the suspect in the left leg.
The suspect was transported to the hospital and his condition is unknown.
For his part, the officer was also transported to the hospital for tinnitus.
The identity of the suspect and for what homicide they would have been looking for him are unknown.
This case remains under investigation.
