Thousands of people have celebrated the turn of the year on Dam Square in Amsterdam. According to the police, between 3,000 and 4,000 revelers were on their feet. Firecrackers were also set off, with which some officers were also pelted.
Officers intervened after midnight and sent people away from the square in the center of Amsterdam. The police took action against those who refused that order. In a number of cases, officers made use of their batons.
