Police Seize Cache of Weapons From Young Individuals in Nice-Est

Five knives, a cutter, a hammer, a glass breaker, seven tear gas canisters… The police seized a rather staggering number of weapons on Friday evening, after checking young individuals in Nice-Est. Eight of them were arrested and heard about their motives.

The police were called around 9:30 p.m. in the Saint-Roch district, following worrying reports. A band of twenty to thirty young individuals ran boulevard Pierre-Sémard, armed for some, potentially ready to do battle. Two of them found refuge in the premises of Gazelec. They would have left two knives and two tear gas canisters there, immediately seized.

The police arrested these two suspects, and caught eight in all. A number of weapons were seized. It remains to be seen what purpose they were intended for. The suspects, mostly 17 years old, had to explain themselves to the police station.
