Shortly before 5:25 p.m., the cantonal police were alerted several times on Monday: the reason was a wrong-way driver driving on the A8 motorway in the Rugen tunnel from Wilderswil in the direction of Interlaken West. The police write that they took “immediate measures to stop the vehicle”. But when the police patrols arrived on site, the car was no longer to be found.
Police are looking for Subaru Forster
According to the current state of knowledge, the car drove past the Interlaken West exit and continued towards Spiez – now in the right lane. “It is currently unclear at which exit the vehicle left the A8 motorway,” writes the police, adding: “Several road users had to dodge the wrong-way driver.” Fortunately, there was no collision. The vehicle you are looking for is an older blue Subaru Forster.
Witnesses are being sought as part of the investigation. In particular, the driver of the blue vehicle, but also other people who can provide relevant information, are asked to call +41 33 227 61 11.
