Police Searching for Witnesses in Assault Case at Praterstern Underground Station

The woman stated that she was sleeping on a green area near the exit to the Praterstern underground station when she woke up because of the acute pain. According to the victim, it was a male perpetrator, there was no further information, so the police are looking for witnesses to the incident around 3:40 a.m.

Although one person was stopped in the immediate vicinity during another police operation, this should not be related to the crime, according to initial investigations. According to police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger, the injured person was still able to move in the direction of the Praterstern, where she received emergency medical care from the Vienna professional rescue service and was taken to a hospital, where she was still being treated as an inpatient. An initial survey has already been carried out, but so far there have been no indications of a possible suspect or suspects.

The Vienna State Criminal Police Office, Center East branch, has taken over the further investigations. Pertinent information about the incident (also anonymously) is received in every police station or by telephone at the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, center/east branch, at 01-31310-62110.
