Police Search Limburg’s St. Vincenz Hospital After Report of Armed Man: All-Clear Given

Limburg. The police searched Limburg’s St. Vincenz hospital on Wednesday after a tip about a possibly armed man. The all-clear came in the evening: no suspicious person had been identified and the operation had ended, said the West Hesse police on Platform X.

According to a police spokeswoman, a report was received on Wednesday afternoon that a suspicious person was said to have been seen in the vicinity of the clinic. The man may have a firearm in his jacket pocket and was heading towards the hospital, it said. To rule out any danger, a large number of police officers were in and around the hospital. “As is usual with such operations, appropriately armed and equipped emergency services were deployed directly on site,” the statement said. The entire hospital was searched. “The hospital is large, many corridors and rooms have to be checked,” said the spokeswoman during the operation. The report on the allegedly suspicious person was received around 4 p.m. The search was over by 6:40 p.m.

The police operation led to changes in visiting and the daily processes in the hospital, but the admission and care of emergencies was guaranteed at all times, the police said. (dpa)
