New York City Police are searching for a suspect in connection to a carjacking Sunday involving an 11-year-old boy, a senior police official confirmed Monday. The minor was found safe.
Authorities sent units to East Harlem after a report came in around 8:00 p.m. about a stolen vehicle with a child inside the car at the time. The incident occurred around E 121st Street and 3rd Avenuesaid the official.
According to that official, the boy’s father left him in the front seat of the Nissan Rogue when the criminal jumped inside and left with the vehicle.
Officers immediately began searching for the vehicle and the 11-year-old boy, eventually finding him unharmed on a sidewalk near Lafayette Boulevard and Bolton Avenue in the Bronx. The little boy was reunited with his father.
The department conducted a citywide search for the suspect but has found no information that has led to his location or identification, the official said.
He was last seen wearing a black military jacket with a red hoodie, and could be around 30 years old.
