Fortuner car with vehicle number B-2054-SJA crashed into a concrete reservation cycle path on Jl Jenderal Sudirman, Central Jakarta. It seems that the driver of the car with the initials RKP is still a teenager.
“(Age) 18 years old,” Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Sub-Directorate Chief Jhoni Eka Putra said when contacted on Saturday (19/11/2022).
Jhoni said that from the RKP’s initial statement to the ID card, it was known that the RKP had private employee status. Vehicle documents led by the RKP are also called complete.
“Everything is complete, there are no problems (vehicle papers). Just a single accident,” he said.
The accident occurred on Thursday (11/17) morning. Lucky car RKP’s vehicle crashed into a traffic island causing damage to the bicycle lane on Jl Jenderal Sudirman, Central Jakarta.
According to Jhoni, the accident was caused by a driver who lost concentration. So far, no driver has been found intoxicated when the accident occurred.
“This did not happen (drunk driver) because from the initial examination results there was no alcohol at the scene. The factor could be sleepy or the influence of the vehicle or if he sleepy. The information that he was drunk from the crime scene examination temporarily did not exist and there was no smell of alcohol,” Jhoni said.
It had devastated
Barrier bicycle lane on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jakarta was in ruins. It was later revealed that the cause of the damaged bike lane was struck by a Fortuner motorist.
The accident occurred on Thursday (11/17) morning. The devastated condition of the bicycle lanes in Sudirman was photographed by Pei Ada, a cyclist with an Instagram account that has 13,500 followers. She crossed the road at 07.30 WIB on Thursday when the road was still wet and still drizzling.
“I first crossed paths with Jl Sudirman, to be precise under JPO after FX from the Senayan Roundabout,” Pei told detik comThursday (17/11).
The location of the cycle lane which was in disrepair was near Gate 6 of Bung Karno Stadium (towards HI roundabout), under the pedestrian bridge (JPO). Pei shared photos and videos, where the concrete pots separating the bike lane from the motorized vehicle lanes are seen to have been devastated, no longer lined up neatly.
There are pots criss-crossing towards the bike path, some of which have spilled soil contents. But no one fell in the motor vehicle lane.
This protected cycle path on Jl Jenderal Sudirman was in disrepair. DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency has improved the condition of the bicycle lane barrier.
“It was fixed this afternoon, it’s been completed,” said Rudy Saptari, traffic division chief at DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency. detik comThursday (17/11).
