The chief of police of Brooklyn Center, a suburb of Minneapolis in the state of Minnesota, resigned because of the murder of 20-year-old colored Donte Wright by a white policewoman, the world agencies reported, BTA reported.
The news was announced by the mayor of the suburb Mike Elliott. He said that in addition to police chief Tim Gannon, policewoman Kim Porter, who shot the colored man, also resigned. She is a veteran of the police with 26 years of experience.
According to Gannon, Porter mistakenly grabbed his firearm instead of his taser during a traffic police check, and so the colored man was shot. The inspection was due to expired car registration, and during it it became clear that there was a previous arrest warrant issued for the black man.
The case has heightened tensions in Minneapolis, where the case of the murder by white police officers of colored George Floyd last year is now pending, sparking a wave of protests in the United States and around the world against police violence and racism.
