Police rescue man from Danube in Linz

A 43-year-old man slipped on the bank and fell into the water. Emergency services were able to rescue him from the Danube ten meters downstream. He suffered a head injury and was hypothermic.

Linz (APA) – The police rescued a 43-year-old from the Danube in Linz on Sunday night. According to witness statements, the visitor to the Urfahran market slipped on the bank and fell into the Danube. Passers-by alerted the emergency services, who discovered the casualty around ten meters from the bank. The officers jumped into the water and brought the man to shore. According to police, the rescued man was barely responsive, hypothermic and had a head injury from the fall.

At around 11:30 p.m., a passerby reported that a person was drifting in the Danube and was holding on to the anchor line of a pier. A police patrol that was in the area of ​​the fair, accompanied by the professional fire department, immediately went there and searched the surface of the water with flashlights.

When the officers discovered the 43-year-old from the Amstetten district in the water, he already appeared weakened and disoriented and was desperately trying to stay on the surface. The officers took the man towards the bank and with the help of passers-by he was pulled up the embankment. (APA)
