A turning maneuver under the influence of alcohol led to a traffic accident on Saturday evening at around 9:15 p.m. in Bleichstrasse, in which three properly parked cars were damaged. A 24-year-old man registered in Offenbach drove his VW Golf on Mittelseestrasse. When turning into Bleichstrasse, he left the roadway and collided with a car, which meant that two other vehicles parked there were affected by pushing one another. The total damage to all four cars is estimated at around 8,500 euros. After blood tests were ordered, criminal proceedings were initiated against the Golf driver.
- Forest fires – Heusenstamm district
Two forest fires with several sources of fire kept the Heusenstamm fire brigade and the police in suspense on Saturday. First, an area of about 1,000 square meters of forest caught fire at around 4:15 p.m. in the area of Patershäuser Weg behind the waterworks in parcel 26. The fire brigade initially found two sources of fire here, but they quickly grew into one fire. In some cases, wood was piled up at the source of the fire, so that the criminal police are investigating in the direction of arson. The Langen forestry office estimates the damage to the wood at around 5,000 euros. In the early evening, around 7:30 p.m., the rescue control center reported another forest fire with several sources of fire. This time the forest area in the long lane between Industriestrasse and Dietzenbacher Strasse was affected. The police helicopter was used to support the fire brigade, in particular to localize the various fire sites in the forest area. In total, a forest area of 350 square meters and felled tree trunks worth 6,000 euros were damaged/destroyed. Here, too, arson can be assumed due to several fire nests and the partial accumulation of wood.
