Police Raided for Prostitution, Hotel in Central Jakarta Has Been Protested by Activists

Police raided a hotel in the Pasar Senen area, Central Jakarta which is made a place prostitution ABG. The hotel is known to have received a number of protests from legal activists.

“A student of a legal network wrote to a hotel as a place of prostitution,” said Director of Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Tubagus Ade Hidayat, to reporters on Tuesday (10/8/2021).

The hotel turned out to have been used as a quarantine place for COVID-19 patients. Tubagus added that half the rooms in the hotel are used for prostitution activities.

“(Amounting) 50 percent of the occupancy is filled for open BO,” he added.

The raid was carried out on Monday (9/8/2021), at around 22.30 WIB. The police raided the hotel after receiving information about the prostitution of minors. At that location, the police arrested 8 minors, 2 pimps, and a hotel supervisor.

“Personnel from Unit 4 Sub-Directorate 5 of the Ditreskrimum have arrested several BO women who are still minors, jockeys and several people who were caught red-handed allegedly committing obscene acts with the victims being minors,” he said.

“Considering the situation and conditions, not all are secured in the office, but only minors and hotel employees,” he said.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 76 I in conjunction with Article 88 of Indonesian Law No. 17 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Indonesian Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection and/or Article 296 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 506 of the Criminal Code.
