“I panicked too. I quit my job to help my daughter, but sadly I can’t do anything. The police try to make her work and I try to reassure her with text messages,” said a father of a student.

Several parents warned their son to turn off his cell phone and remain hidden, although police confirmed he did not have an active shooter.

“I warned my daughter to put her phone on silent so she wouldn’t put herself at risk. I text her. It was exam time and she heard gunshots so everyone went everywhere,” said one parent.

Two lanes are blocked near the Montmorency College main entrance by the cars of friends and families of students who gather inside.

“We write. I know he is isolated right now and waiting for permission to go out. I have lost track of time a bit since I have been here. I can’t wait for him to get out of college and for us to be safe.” said the mother of a TVA Nouvelles student.

The students left some classes, escorted by the police, to go to the library.
