On Wednesday morning, the police searched a ride and several caravans at the Hamburg Dom. Masked police officers from Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein were on duty.
The police arrived while the showmen were still asleep. Dozens of police officers stormed the grounds of the Hamburger Dom on the Heiligengeistfeld at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Their target: the rides and caravans of a showman family from Schleswig-Holstein. The investigators also searched the family’s home near Heide in the Dithmarschen district.
Corona aid for repairs that were not carried out?
Two showmen are said to have wrongfully received 1.4 million euros in Corona aid in 2021 and 2022, the responsible public prosecutor from Kiel told NDR 90.3. The sum was apparently paid out for repairs that were apparently not carried out. The public prosecutor’s office is investigating the man and the woman for possible subsidy fraud.
Valuables and luxury car confiscated
During the searches, officers seized documents, a luxury car and other items worth several hundred thousand euros. The authorities want to ensure that at least part of the millions in damage caused can be compensated.
Despite the police operation, the ride on the cathedral can open as usual.
