The police of the Czech Republic will buy a total of 70 BMW 5 Series cars. Forty cars will be in the police color, thirty will be “camouflaged”, in the usual civilian version.

In recent years, the Police of the Czech Republic has been significantly renewing its vehicle fleet. And he continues to do so. The latest order is very interesting, it concerns the purchase of 70 copies of the large luxury station wagon BMW 540i xDrive Touring. The server pointed this out State Guard, which has long been involved in government procurement.
Seventy cars will be used for “high-speed pursuits”, so they will be new highway fighters. The 540i xDrive Touring is suitable for just such work, but it is a station wagon powered by a 245 kW six-cylinder petrol engine that can accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 5.2 seconds.

Forty cars will be in police color, for which the police will pay 91,379,200 crowns, including VAT, through the Ministry of the Interior. The remaining thirty cars will be in civilian design, with a hidden warning system. The state will give 68,461,800 crowns for them. On average, a commercial car will cost CZK 2,282,060 including VAT, or CZK 2,284,480 including VAT for police-colored cars.
The equipment includes, among other things, an adaptive chassis, adaptive cruise control or parking sensors, which the police requested as part of a signed contract. The condition also required an engine with an output of at least 200 kW or a luggage compartment with a capacity of at least 560 liters.
By the way, police Bavarians in civilian design will be painted in black, gray, blue, white, red or silver lacquer. The police version will logically be silver, supplemented by the necessary reflective elements.
Both types of vehicles will be able to measure speed. Specifically, the Soitron MOSY m * SpeedDetV mobile section meter will be used for this. The system can measure the speed of both vehicles in front and rear, it will also include full HD cameras with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and shooting up to 120 fps, as well as GPS position recording. The operating accuracy of the meter is approximately 1 km / h up to a speed of 100 km / h and 1% above a speed of 100 km / h. The vehicles will also be equipped with an alcohol tester, a fire extinguisher, a stop belt, a boot or folding cones, as well as binoculars, a laser speedometer or a payment terminal, to pay the fine.
The Bavarians will be supplied to the police by the company Stratos Auto, which, by the way, has lent the Police of the Czech Republic in the past to test the BMW 7 in a plug-in hybrid version. The necessary police elements then come from the workshop of the Holomý company.
The agreement is a framework, so the police will not have to withdraw it. Cars according to server information Zdopravy.cz it will target both new highway departments and replace the oldest highway fighters in operation. In addition to Stratos Auto, the domestic carmaker Škoda Auto and Porsche Inter Auto also took part in the contract.
