The lawyer of the three police officers who are being investigated for the theft of $1 million, during a police operation, assured that his clients were unaware of the existence of the amount of money; Meanwhile, in the last hours, one of three officers made public his interest in using an abbreviated procedure, thus accepting his guilt.
Steven Heredia, lawyer for the apprehended police officers, indicated that several amounts of money are being handled, which supposedly would have remained in the hands of the uniformed officers. After the investigations, the amount that is in the custody of the Public Ministry and the Bolivian Police is $843 thousand and not a higher figure.
“On Monday night, by the Public Ministry, my clients, who are police officers, were arrested. The crime for which they are being investigated is concussion,” he noted.
He pointed out that according to the complaint made by three lawyers, who are also arrested, there were some police officers who had kept an amount of money, a situation that occurred last Friday, January 12, of this year, in a routine operation.
“My clients did not know of the existence of this amount of money that was inside that vehicle,” he insisted.
However, they are waiting for the police officers to be brought before a judge to determine their legal situation. The lawyer will request that they be released; Although, in the last few hours one of the accused, Sergeant RCF, consulted about the abbreviated procedure to which he could benefit and benefit from an alternative solution.
“As a lawyer for my three clients, I am going to request that all three of them be able to defend themselves in freedom,” he said.
